1. JOHN S. BROOMHALL was born about 1796 in VA. He married ELISABETH HIGGENBOTHAM December 28, 1826 in Clinton LA. (This could be ELIZABETH HIGGENBOTHAM, b. 1808 Elbert Co. GA; daughter of JAMES HIGGENBOTHAM and MARY BROWN.) JOHN obtained four land patents in Mississippi: 1840 in Hinds Co, 1841 in Leake Co, and 1850 in Choctaw County. In 1859 His son WILLIAM also obtained a land patent in Choctaw Co. MS. J. S. BROOMHALL appears in the 1841 MS state census and a J.U.BROOMHALL is in the 1846 Choctaw Co. Personal Tax Roll Index- we believe this is also JOHN. His parents are not known. We do not know when he migrated to MS; however his eldest son, according to Census records, was born in MS about 1830. JOHN must have died before 1870, as he does not appear in that census but E. BROOMHALL, presumeably Elizabeth, does.There is a Mr. Bromhall and wife buried in the Salem Independent Methodist Church Cemetery in Chester, Choctaw County, MS and it is believed this is John and Elizabeth.

i. WILLIAM H. BROOMHALL , b. Abt. 1830, MS. WILLIAM receoved a land patent in Choctaw Co MS in 1859 of 119 acres. May have been killed in the Civil War.

iii. ADALINE BROOMHALL , b. Abt. 1835.
iv. MIRES W. BROOMHALL , b. Abt. 1839. May have been killed in the Civil War.

2. SILVESTER PEARLE (TIP) BROOMHALL (JOHN S. 1) Was born 1851 according to a family bible in the posession of Barbie Quinlan. He lived around French Camp, Mississippi in Choctaw Co. He married (1) ELLEN EFFELIA PIERCE who was born 1851 and died 1884. He married (2) MELISSA PIERCE, the sister of ELLEN. SILVESTER died 1905. Both are buried at locust Grove Cemetery, Benton MS.

3. OPHELIA C. BROOMHALL (JOHN S. 1) was born October 03, 1847 in MS, and died January 21, 1925 in Choctaw Co MS. She married JAMES B. MC MULLIN. They are both buried at Salem Independant Methodist Church Cemetery, along with 4 infant children and a few more grown children.
