Descendants of Jason D. Broomall, Sr.

 

Generation No. 1

1. JASON D. BROOMALL, SR. was born September 2, 1852 and died December 14, 1929. He married ELLEN FINN. They lived in West Chester, Chester County PA after 1882. He was first a paperhanger in Coatesville, and then opened an interior decoration business in West Chester. This family are all Catholics and many are buried in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester. We do not know the parents of JASON. New evidence has come to our attention from an unsigned, unattributed source connected with the FINN family, that claims this Jason was born in Philadelphia, s.o. a JASON D. BROOMALL and Mrs. CUMMINS, who remarried after JASON died. The paper goes on to state that JASON came to West Chester at the age of 17, where he apprenticed as a paperhanger. On the other hand, JASON'S death certificate sas that both parents, JASON D. BROOMALL and ELLA CUMMINGS, were born in West Chester.

3. iv. HENRY BRINTON BROOMALL, b. January 04, 1894; d. October 1971.
v. WARREN (CHAMP) BROOMALL, b. January 20,1896. He was a promising baseball player who had a try-out with Connie Mack. He played on the Philadephia Athletics Farm Team. He served in World War I, and was gassed; as a result he was disabled and after the war lived at the Coatesville Veteran's Hospital. He died in 1954.
vi.JOSEPHINE BROOMALL, was a concert pianist; she m. _____ KANE.Died. February 22, 1926, in a flu epidemic.

Generation No. 2

2. JASON D. BROOMALL, JR. (JASON D. 1) was born 1883, in West Chester PA, and died January 02, 1944 in West Chester. Hegraduated from the University of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Art School. He married ELLEN (NELLIE) GORMLEY. She was born about 1887. He was associated with his father and brothers in an interior decorating business. Later in life he opened a tobacco store in West Chester. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in West Chester and the Good Will Fire Co. He is buried at St. Agnes Cemetery in Weast Chester.

ii. DOROTHY BROOMALL, b. about 1907; m. JAMES E. O'NEILL.
iii. H. GORMLEY BROOMALL, b. about 1910.
4. iv. JASON D. BROOMALL III, b. July 06, 1913; d. June 1977.

3. HENRY BRINTON BROOMALL (JASON D.1) was born January 04, 1894, and died October 19711. He married FRANCES STANSBURY, daughter of JOHN STANSBURY. HENRY was an interior decorator. FRANCES graduated in 1921 from West Chester State Teachers College.

Child of HENRY BROOMALL and FRANCES STANSBURY is:
i. Son, living, issue.

4. JASON D. BROOMALL III (JASON D. 2, JASON D. 1) was born July 06, 1913, and died June 1977. He married HELEN SHORT, daughter of ISAAC SHORT and EVA HART. HELEN is buried in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester. Among their issue was JASON D. BROOMALL IV, born 1935; died 1949 of Leukemia. in West Chester, PA.
