1. JOSIAH BROOMHALL was born about 1804. His parents are not known. He is possibly a son of JAMES, son of KIDNAPPED JOHN BROOMHALL. He married NANCY _____, before 1825. NANCY was born about 1806. He resided in West & East Nantmeal Twp., Chester Co. PA. Josiah's occupation was Huckster. In 1833 JOSIAH's sons THOMAS and JOSEPH are on the list of "Poor School Children," i.e. those whose tuition was paid by the county, there being no public schools. Most of Josiah's children dropped the H in the surname, although occasionally yu find it in various records.

2. THOMAS BROOMHALL (JOSIAH 1) was born about 1825 in East Nantmeal. He was married to DEBORAH NARVELL December 28, 1848 by the Rev. Enos Woodward at St. Andrews Church, West Vincent Twp. Chester Co. PA. DEBORAH was born about 1832. THOMAS must have moved around, because one of his children is born in NY in 1851, but he moved to Delaware about 1860. However, later research has shown this to be an error, and Jennie, born in NY seems to be a daughter-in-law. He served in the Civil War in Co E, 5th Delaware Infantry. In 1880 he lived in Brownstown, Christiana Hundred, New Castle County DE, where he is listed in the census under the name BROOMALL. The 1880 Delaware census lists Jenny as his daughter, but we believe, from the 1900 census that she was his daughter-in law, the wife of Charles, and Charles age 2 in 1880 was their son. He could have died as he is not listed ont he 1900 census in Edgmont Twp Del. Co PA. Thomas' death date is not known.

3. JOSEPH BROOMALL (JOSIAH 1 BROOMHALL) was born Abt. 1829, or on 4 August 1826- accd Mt. Salem Cemetery Wlmington, and died December 24, 1901. He married (1) MARY E. _____ in PA before 1852. Sometime about 1860 he must have moved to Delaware. He served in the Civil War in Co. E 5th Delaware Infantry; & Co. K 7th Delaware Infantry. He married (2) ELISABETH _____ Bet. 1860 - 1864. JOSEPH and ELISABETH are buried in Mt. Salem Cemetery in Wilmington DE.

4. ROBERT BROOMALL (JOSIAH 1) was born Abt. 1835. He was married to ANNA ELIZA HARRIS October 22, 1856 by Rev. Dan'l Meyers. He lived in Uwchlan Twp. Chester Co PA.

5. JOHN 2 BROOMALL (JOSIAH 1) was born Abt. 1838. He was married to HANNAH SHEARER May 22, 1862 in Pikeland Lutheran Parsonage, by Rev. C. Reimensnyder. In 1870 JOHN was a Farmer and landowner in East Coventry Twp. Chester Co. He served during the Civil War in the PA Infantry. By 1880 he and his family had moved to Wilmington DE.

6. CHARLES BROOMALL (THOMAS 2, JOSIAH 1) was born about 1849 in Pennsylvania. He married JENNIE _____, born about 1832 in NY. They are found in 1880 in Browntown, Christiana Hundred, Delaware, living with Charles' father Thomas, and in 1900 living in Thornbury Twp. Delaware Co. PA.

7. HENRY H. BROOMHALL (THOMAS 2, JOSIAH 1) was born about 1858 in PA. He married EMMA _____. They resided in Pennsbury Twp., Chester Co. PA.

8. LEVIS J.3 BROOMALL (JOSEPH 2, JOSIAH 1 BROOMHALL) was born February 1852 in PA, and died Abt. 1910. He married MARGARET (MAGGIE) _____. He worked as a laborer in an Iron works in Phoenixville, Chester Co. in 1880, and later in 1900 as a Fireman in Chester, Delaware Co.

10. SAMUEL E.3 BROOMALL (JOHN 2 BROOMALL, JOSIAH 1 BROOMHALL) was born July 1869 in PA. He moved to Wilmington DE before 1895 when he married ANNE C. VALENTINE December 12, 1895 in Wilmington.
