BROOMHALL MANSION

In Mohawk, Herkimer Co, New York, this house was built in 1866 by George Broomhall. Now demolished, it formerly stood at the head or Orchard street. He came to New York from England in 1844 at age 22. He was a maltster, converting grain to malt, which he shipped to the distilleries via the Erie Canal. The house was later owned by the Reardon family.
