There are many Broomhall families which have
not been connected yet with the other Broomhall family lines. We continue
to update this page as our research continues.
1.
THOMAS BROMALL received
a land patent in Southern Newcastle Co. Delaware about 1670 on Blackbird
Creek. It is possible that the BROMELL family of Delaware may descend from him. There also
is a THOMAS
BROOMALL,
unconnected to the other lines, who was witness to a mortgage for Chester
Co. land in 1713. This may or may not be the same Thomas.
The following are possible descendants of :
JAMES BROOMHALL of the line of KIDNAPPED JOHN OR
the line of QUAKER
JOHN
through
i. JACOB
BROOMALL, son of DANIEL, OR
ii. Descendants of Children of DAVID, son of JOHN2, OR
iii. Possible Descendants of JOHN2 through his unnamed children.
2.
______ BROOMHALL married
HANNAH
SCHOOLEY, daughter of
WILLIAM SCHOOLEY and ANN MATTHEWS, before 25, 5mo 1782 in Loudon Co. VA. She was disowned
by Loudon Monthly Meeting for marriage out of unity.
Children of _____ BROOMHALL and HANNAH
SCHOOLEY are:
i. MAHLON BROOMHALL, b.
about 1764.
ii. SAMUEL
BROOMHALL, b.
about 1766.
iii. WILLIAM
BROOMHALL,

iv. JOHN
BROOMHALL, b
9, 8mo, 1769
v. ISAAC
BROOMHALL,
b 13, 2mo, 1771.
3. JAMES BROOMHALL. There is a JAMES BROOMHALL referred to in Preston Co. Virginia (now WV) in 1824. A son MAHLON BROOMHALL moved from Preston Co to Western PA 1824 to OH. MAHLON was a Quaker. I believe this James may be the same person as # 2, _____ BROOMHALL who married HANNAH SCHOOLEY, or perhaps his son.
4. ENOS BROOMHALL , b. about 1799, PA; d. November 25, 1871, West Philadelphia,
aged about 76 years.
Enos is no longer unconnected- he is
a son of Jacob, s.o. Daniel BROOMALL.
5. SAMUEL
BROOMHALL was born about 1800. He married REBECCA
_____. In 1850 he is living in Thornbury Twp. Delaware Co, a laborer, according
to the census. In 1851 a SAMUEL BROOMHALL
was brought in to the Chester County Poor House, with his wife. They had
been homeless for about a year, but were supposed to be from Delaware County.
In the poor house records, he gave his father's name as John. He was discharged
after a few weeks. The woman who was with this SAMUEL
is named MARGARET, so it is not know whether they are
the same person. Possibly a son of Jacob, son of Daniel.
Children of SAMUEL and REBECCA are:
i. ANN ELIZA BROOMALL,
b abt. 1827.
ii. EDWIN BROOMALL, b abt. 1831.
iii. HUMPHREY BROOMALL, b. abt.

KOHLAN; d. 20 January 1907. Daughter MABEL

died March 24, 1900 in West Chester. He was a carpenter by trade. He married
EMMA LOUISE _____. She was a member
of the Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1870 she worked as a laundress. She
died March 9, 1901. They were both buried in Greenmount Cemetery, West Chester.
PA. We do not have the names of the Children of ABRAHAM
4, DANIEL 3, JOHN 2, JOHN 1) so it is possible he is his son.

i. JAMES ATWOOD BROOMALL,

as a coach builder.

HANCE & lived in Glen Mills PA.
Jacob is no longer unconnected- he is a son of Enos, above. ![]()
12. WILLIAM PENN BROOMELL 1833-1874. He is connected with the line of ISAAC 4 (DANIEL 3, JOHN 2, JOHN 1) but we don't know how.
13. JASON D. BROOMALL, SR. b. 1852; d. 1929. Originally from Coatesville, he moved to West Chester. We can't connect him to any known BROOMALL line, although there are several other JASON D. BROOMALLs or BROOMELLs in the same time and area. Believe the D. may stand for DAVIS. New evidence has come to our attention that claims this Jason was the son of another JASON D. BROOMALL, and ELLEN CUMMINGS. The only one possible (that we kinow of) is JASON b 1824, s.o. James.
14. WILLIAM BROMELL, b. about 1785. Lived in New Jersey. Married July 10 1810, ELEANOR CLAYTON, b 11 December 1790 in NJ, daughter of ZEBULON & AMY ANN (KENDRY) CLAYTON. WILLIAM is in the 1830 Census in Morris Co. Mendham Twp. NJ.
