In Jordan, at Petra, we went on a sunset camel ride in the mountains. The camels we rented were from the Howeitat tribe. They seemed to have better gaits than the Egyptian camels. The boys who accompanied us were from the family of Auda of the Howeitat, who rode with Lawrence of Arabia. Rent the movie and look at the character played by Anthony Quinn- He is the ancestor of our camel guides. We rode way up a mountain to see the sun set over the tomb of Haroun (Aaron, the brother of Moses.) Down below us was the hidden rose red rock city of Petra.
